Late Night Highlights
Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon:
I’m so excited; we have Chris Christie and Chef Mario Batali on the show tonight. It’s so great to have a guest that’s so passionate about food, and it’s an honor to have Mario Batali here as well.
This week Apple introduced a new laptop that supposedly has an all-day battery. How it works is don’t turn on your laptop all day.
The comedy segments were Justin Bieber Retweets and Tebowie Returns. Despite all the effort the show put into Tebowie Returns, I found the simple idea and execution of Justin Bieber Retweets to be significantly more entertaining.
Chris Christie was the first couch guest. He is in the Governor of New Jersey. The interview was great. Chris was impressive, a very good sport, spoke well and told some interesting stories. I think this is the first time I’ve watched him for longer than a sound bite. I can better understand why he’s so popular and a potential candidate for president in 2016. Here’s the interview:
Jennette McCurdy was the second couch guest. She stars on the show Sam and Cat. The interview was ok. Jennette was nice, but overall there was nothing remotely remarkable about her. Her stories were lame and the clip from her show was absolutely terrible. Fallon loves her, though. He thinks she’s hilarious and very talented. She may very well be, but she didn’t show it in this interview.
Mario, Benno and Leo Batali were the cooking guests. I’m a huge fan of cooking segments, but this one was just too chaotic to enjoy. There were too many people crowded together, everyone was tripping over each others sentences and, worst of all, Jimmy was over-energetic and kept using phrases like “my friend,” “my brother” and “my man” way too much.
Fine show. I give it:
