Late Late Show Highlights
Let us celebrate the beginning of March with the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
The pre-opening credit segment was funny and educational:
Here were my favorite monologue jokes:
It’s a tense day in Arkansas. In the last 24 hours a town in Arkansas has had three earthquakes. Geologists think the earthquakes were caused by a process of removing waste water. It’s called “fracking.” Now, I don’t know how fracking works, who fracks or what a fracking tool looks like, but I like saying “frack.” I’ll just bet it’s driving the fracking CBS censors out of their fracking tiny minds. But, you know what, I say frack those guys.
Oscars really sucked, didn’t they? I know I always say I don’t give a rat’s ass about the Oscars, but this year there was something about that statuesque gold man that just pulled me in. I’m of course referring to Matthew McConaughey.
If you thought the Oscars were boring don’t blame the hosts, blame the guy who hired them. You know it was probably the same guy who thought, “You know what would be a great idea? Let’s bring out Billy Crystal for 3 minutes in the middle of the show.” Cause you bring out Billy Crystal in the middle of the Oscars is like bringing out Michael Jordon in the middle of a kids’ basketball game.
When Billy Crystal walked on stay last night he got a standing ovation…in my house.
People say to me, “Craig, would you ever host the Oscars?” And I say, “No way, unless they asked me.”
The desk segment would have been checking the tweets and emails. Instead, Chris Hardwick from the Nerdist came out and showed clips from his recent visit to a Doctor Who convention. I like conventions and I like Doctor Who, but I didn’t find this the least bit entertaining.
Isaac Mizrahi was the first couch guest. He is a fashion designer. Overall the interview was ok. There were some funny moments and Craig and Isaac had great chemistry. For me, however, I wish they had spent more time and energy focused on fashion at the Oscars. Instead, they just rambled on about stuff, mostly related to Craig and Isaac’s sexuality. I know this is Craig’s standard operating procedure, but between his dislike for the Oscars and Isaac’s fashion experience it felt like they missed an opportunity.
Patton Oswalt was the second couch guest. He’s a stand-up comedian and actor. The interview was terrific. Craig and Patton were hilarious together. You should watch it and be entertained like I was:
Good show. I give it:
