Tonight Show Highlights
So, all the late night hosts decided to take the entire week off. What’s up with that? I didn’t get to take this week off. Who’s in charge of coordinating these things? Well, it gives me a chance to review last Friday’s very good Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. Here were my favorite monologue jokes, some of which are a little dated:
The world’s smallest person, a man from Nepal, whose twenty-two inches tall, says he’s looking for a bride. He said he wants a woman who likes movies, travel and long walks in a sandbox.
Yesterday, in Connecticut, a truck crashed into a Dunkin Donuts. Witnesses say it was the third-biggest thing to enter Dunkin Donuts that morning.
In Pennsylvania police arrested a man inside of a convenience store after they noticed he had a bag of marijuana stuck to his forehead. The guy was relieved because he had been trying to find his pot for two days.
The desk segment started with a review of his conflict with Newark Mayor Cory Booker. It’s worth watching if you want to then watch the first couch guest clips:
And that was then followed up with a video from Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, which, for me, is always a good time:
Newark Mayor Cory Booker was the first couch guest. Conan invited Mayor Booker on the show to hopefully resolve the playful conflict between them. The interview was very good. Mayor Booker was very personable, sharp as a tack and a great sport. I thought he did a really nice job:
Max Records was the second couch guest. Max is the star of the new movie Where the Wild Things Are. The kid is 12, and he was pretty nervous when he first sat down, so I wasn’t optimistic about the interview. Conan, however, did a nice job getting Max talking and moving the interview along. Plus, there was a hilarious story starting at the 3:10 minute mark which makes the whole interview worth it.
Dashboard Confessional was the musical guest. They were awesome.
Like I said earlier, good show. I give it:
– Woody
To fans of Max Records,
Though the kid is only 12, he seems to be a compete idiot. Honestly crowds should be the least of his problems. The kid should have been better prepared, and smart children are able to respond more quickly to simple questions. For instance, at the end of the segment Conan mentioned (paraphrasing) he had enough of the interview, and that he would continue on with the show. Honestly I think the child is a little slow, but most people would make the argument that in order to be in a movie of such magnitude he would have to retain some level of intelligence. I think contrary to this, the boy seemed simple minded, and it does not take a genius to perform in a movie intended for a children based audience. yea syntax
