Where There’s Smoke…

…there’s fire. And that’s what happened to Late Show cue-card guy Tony Mendez last week after an altercation with one of the Late Show‘s writers. From the New York Post article:

Mendez, 5-foot-7 but with a scrappy build, threw the taller, bespectacled, 57-year-old Scheft against a wall, two CBS sources said. “I’m the first one to say I should have never put my hands on him, but I never hit him. I just grabbed him and got my face in his face,” Mendez said.

It’s an interesting article that’s worth reading. There are a few raw nuggets of information regarding how the show is run and who’s running it.

It’s also a bummer of a career-ender for a guy who has been with the Late Show since 1993, and has been on-air in a ton of bits during the show.
