Weaponized Kinship
So, yeah, the goal had been at some point to reveal that Renee and Roger are brother and sister. Then, probably during a weekend story arc, Renee would have been pulled in to help Roger complete a mission that he was having trouble finishing on his own.
Roger’s adventures are always based on real movies. Today’s strip contains references to three such motion pictures. The most blatant one is Children of Men, which is one of my favorite films. It’s dark and exhausting, but smart and thrilling. Clive Owen is terrific in it, and it was directed and co-written by Alfonso Cuarón, who directed and co-wrote Gravity.
The other two are The Replacement Killers and Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Neither film was particularly good, but I needed points of reference for various panels.

SO THAT’S WHAT SHE’S BEEN DOING THIS WHOLE TIME!!!
God damn, this is just awesome. Probably my favorite so far of this last handful of updates. I was hoping we would get one last Roger bit before seeing the comic go.
Also nice Children of Men reference! That’s one of my favorite movies ever. The end sequence where they get the baby out of the city is still one of the most amazing bits of film I have ever seen.
Yeah, I agree. Amazing scene in a fantastic movie.
Didn’t see that coming.
Love the cover illustrations on each of Renee’s books!
I kept the Renee and Roger connection pretty close to the chest.
Yeah, the book covers came out really nice. Glad you liked them.
So, my stupid work has had me busy non-stop since January, so I’m incredibly late to the game here.
Even though I haven’t been avidly reading the last few months, I will miss WAH terribly.
Though, to be honest, once I could no longer come here and talk about Craig Ferguson, my interest in late night has dwindled remarkably.
My very, very biggest question is this:
How will we know WHO wins the next Golden Woodys?! There are many serious changes happening in late night in 2015 – including Larry Wilmore and Trevor Noah.
Are you telling me the Golden Woodys are ending too?
Will there be a Golden Woodys website that will only update twice a year?
I must know these things!
I was wondering where you’ve been.
I’m afraid that the Golden Woody’s have ended along with the comic and the late-night highlights.
But, as you said, it shouldn’t matter now that Craig isn’t in the running anymore.
Three strips left and we don’t even know how the refrigerator ninja is doing!
Sorry. I didn’t have room in the schedule for a Refrigerator Ninja-future strip. But I’ll be happy to tell you here:
During his Twinkie detox the Refrigerator Ninja discovered a love for recreational paragliding. For a while he spent his weekdays promoting healthy eating through jumping out of refrigerators and scaring them into submission, and his weekends paragliding.
Eventually, he merged his two loves. Now, seven days a week, he is the “Paragliding Refrigerator Ninja.” With his trusty refrigerator-shaped glider, he paraglides into people’s homes (by dramatically crashing through their windows) and yells at them to eat better and fix their broken windows.
You can follow his adventures at http://www.paraglidingrefrigeratorninja.com
I tried the link…
On a side note: Fuck, you really planned this out. This is awesome.
Thanks!
I was hoping you’d say April Fools, the comic is still going this was all a lie
I had briefly considered doing an April’s Fools joke where the comic starts by saying that WAH ending is an April Fools joke, and then by the end saying that the beginning of the strip was the actual April Fools joke and that the comic is still ending. But, as you can tell, the idea wasn’t that good or funny.
