Those Who Cannot Learn From History…

In my constant attempt to attract new and diverse fans to Woody After Hours I took the WAH World Tour 2009 booth to the House of Blues in downtown Houston last night. As I walked up to the big steel doors I envisioned how the evening would go. Wearing dark sunglasses and a large smile I would bounce, nay, glide, from one velvet couch to another full of cool jazz-loving cats. With a drink in one hand and a cigar in the other I would amaze people with the Story of WAH while a bluesy saxophone played softly in the background. By the time the evening was over I would have made hundreds of new and dedicated fans, many of whom would buy t-shirts for themselves and their loved ones.

My logic was sound, but my timing was a little off. It turns out that Adler’s Appetite was the entertainment for the evening. Adler’s Appetite is a rock band that plays Guns N’ Roses songs, mostly from the album Appetite for Destruction. Their drummer is Steven Adler, who was with GNR from 1985 to 1990. In addition, one of the guitarists is Alex Grossi, who was in Quiet Riot.

Needless to say I didn’t setup up the WAH World Tour 2009 booth. I just didn’t think anyone would made the effort to notice me. Even if I could have gotten someone’s attention, I wouldn’t have been able to carry on a conversation since the music was at roughly 8,000 decibels, give or take.

Here is a picture. Steven is the drummer and Alex is on the far left.

I will try again today and let you know next week if I had any success.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend.
