Late Show Highlights
Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Late Show with David Letterman:
Cold over the weekend; it was like zero degrees. It was so cold over the weekend I turned fifty shades of blue.
The NBA All-Star game was down the street at Madison Square Garden. The West beat the East 163 to 158, but the loss will be credited to the New York Knicks.
The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is this week. They say that’s a predictor of the Academy Awards. Last year the Best in Show winner was interrupted by Kanye’s dog.
The comedy segment bits included ”Intern Todd at the 2015 NBA All-Star Game” and “Top Ten Ways to Prepare for a Winter Storm.” Todd blew the Top Ten List away:
Matthew Perry was the first couch guest. He co-stars on the new show The Old Couple. The interview was – I hate to say it – forgettable. Matthew lacked energy, seemed uncomfortable in his own skin and didn’t even try to make his tidbits interesting. Letterman had to actively work to save the segment, and just didn’t have enough to work with to succeed. I’m bummed because, while I’ve always enjoyed Matthew on television, this was painful to watch.
Adam Scott was the second couch guest. He is in the new film Hot Tub Time Machine 2. The interview was good. Adam was fun, easygoing and told some amusing stories. It was a pretty average interview, honestly. There was nothing really spectacular about it. Yet, since it Matthew Perry’s appearance, it felt wonderful. Here’s a clip:
Kishi Bashi was the musical guest. He was ok.
Mediocre show. I give it:
