Late Late Show Highlights
Craig Ferguson and Arsenio Hall are the only two late-night talk show hosts working this week. I reviewed an episode of The Late Late Show already, but I forgot to record The Arsenio Hall Show, so…last night’s cold open was enjoyable enough to recommend watching:
Here were my favorite monologue jokes:
There’s a woman in Georgia who’s fighting local government. She’s trying to overturn her city’s ban on sex toys. The woman’s name hasn’t been revealed in public, so for now we’ll just call her “The woman who’s never heard of cucumbers and washing machines.”
Casinos in Las Vegas are now taking bets on when Kim and Kanye will divorce. I think that’s outrageous! It’s terrible! But…if I were a betting man, I’d put twenty bucks on fall sweeps.
A woman in New York is suing a Manhattan salon for 1.5 million dollars over a bad haircut. The last time I saw a disaster like that with clippers it was Donald Sterling.
The comedy segment bits were phone calls and “Tweetmail”. It was ok, but not entertaining enough to spend your time on, honestly.
America Ferrera was the first couch guest. She is in the upcoming film How to Train Your Dragon 2. The interview was fine. America was nice, but kinda stiff and a little distant. She answered questions and laughed a few times, but mostly she just seemed unable or uninterested in relaxing. Maybe she’s normally like that, had other things on her mind or was tired. Regardless, the segment suffered from her lack of energy, and Craig’s ability to feed off that energy.
Honeysuckle Weeks was the second couch guest. She is on the show Foyle’s War. The interview was great. Honeysuckle was friendly, easygoing and told some amusing stories. I loved her dry sense of humor, English attitude and ability to go with the flow in the unfamiliar environment of Craig and his LLS antics. Here’s the interview:
The closing segment was mediocre, but I’ll allow it because there’s more Honeysuckle. You can find it at the end of her interview in the clip above.
Good show. I give it:
