Late Late Show Highlights
The cold open from last night’s Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson was amusing, and the last 15 seconds were gold. I’m pretty impressed with Craig’s ability to restrain himself. Unfortunately CBS has down the video of it on YouTube, so you’re just going to have to trust me.
Here were my favorite monologue jokes:
There was a guy caught at the Mexico border with a hundred and twenty-eight thousand dollars in his socks. The Border Patrol asked him, “Why did you stick all the money in your socks?” He said, “Because I’m using my rectum for drugs.”
Over in Britain they’re very tense because there’s still no royal baby. I can’t wait to see that royal bundle of joy; I’m talking about Prince Harry’s genitals.
The royal family is keeping all the details top secret, because they don’t want their plans spoiled by Voldemort. Right now, at St. Mary’s Hospital in London the cameras are focused on the rear entrance to see everyone going in and out. It’s just like that Liberace movie.
The comedy segment was Tweetmail. It was sillier than normal, but was it entertaining? I would have let you decide, but CBS took away this video too.
Sir Anthony Hopkins was the first couch guest. He is in the new film Red 2. The interview was weird. Sir Anthony looked really uncomfortable with the lack of format and goofiness of it all. He even questioned the point of the whole thing out loud a few times. Yet, he and Craig have known each other for over twenty years. So, was he just acting like the entire segment was a waste of his time? I’m not sure, but acting or not, the whole thing was bizarre and not very enjoyable to watch. Craig seemed to have an ok time with the chaos, though.
Jes Macallan was the second couch guest. She is on the show Mistresses. The interview was good. Jes was pleasant, had a nice sense of humor and told some interesting stories. This interview was a complete one-eighty from the previous one with Sir Anthony. Maybe it’s a generational thing. Here’s the interview:
The closing segment was brief. It’s at the end of the Jes Macallan interview if you’re interested.
Fine show. I give it:
