Late Late Show Highlights
The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson began its ninth season and debuted its new home last night. The bigger and brighter set is nice, but I think it’s going to take some time to get used to it. It’s so grown up. Among other things there’s a fireplace now, and a separate area with a *gasp* curtain for musical guests. Craig actually walks out on stage in a similar to Leno on the Tonight Show. And there are so many lights.
The cold open was Craig and Regis Philbin backstage. It was the weakest part of the show, honestly, so we’re going to move past it and pretend it never happened.
The monologue focused on the new digs, Prince Harry and various Vegas hotel names. Highlighting individual pieces of the segment wouldn’t do it justice, so here’s the whole thing:
The comedy segment was tweetmail, but Craig spent the majority of the time off on various tangents. Overall it was very entertaining:
Kristen Bell was the only couch guest. She is the new film Hit and Run. The interview was pretty good. Craig and Kristen are great friends, and Kristen always has a lot of fun on the show, so it made perfect sense to have her on as his first guest in the new studio. Here’s the interview:
The closing segment was fine, but I’m not convinced it’s worth watching.
Enjoyable show. I give it:
– Woody
Tonight’s show was much funnier. Between Larry King being Larry King and “Creepy Secretariat” I was in stitches most of the night.
Yeah, I enjoyed the show too. The Secretariat bit was really good.
