Late Late Show Highlights
The cold open from last night’s Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson was funny and is worth watching. Only the first two minutes of this clip contain the cold open, the rest is the monologue:
Here were my favorite monologue jokes:
It’s a great day for Vladimir Putin who won yesterday’s Russian presidential election. He received a whopping 325% of the vote.
A lot of the Russians think the election was fixed. And I’m not surprised, you’ve got to fix the elections in Russia, it’s too cold to go outside and vote. I don’t know why it’s called “fixing the election.” That implies that an honest election is broken. It’s the same thing when you start “fixing” your pets. Their genitals were working perfectly fine before you “repaired them.”
The aftermath of the Russian election makes you really appreciate our election process here in America. We all know when we cast our votes in a few months they will be counted fairly, and in the end this country will have a new American Idol.
Immediately after the results were announced yesterday widespread protests took place all across Moscow. The city was overrun by angry, belligerent drunks. Then the protesters turned up and things went crazy.
The desk segment was tweetmail. It was entertaining, but too darn short. He had some good mojo working, I wish he had been given more time to use it:
Courteney Cox was the first couch guest. She stars on the show Cougar Town. The interview was pretty good, primarily because Craig was very funny and flirted a lot. Courtney did a nice job of playing along as well as she could. Like most conversations with Craig at his desk, theirs went all over the place. Here’s the interview:
Louie Anderson was the second couch guest. He’s a stand-up comedian with a show in Vegas. The interview was enjoyable. Louie started with a few minutes of stand-up, then spent the rest of his time talking with Ferguson. They’re both comedians, so most of the conversation centered around that lifestyle. Based on the amount of clips in this review I’m going to pass up this one.
The closing segment was fine. It brought the show full circle, which is always fun.
A very good show. I give it:
