Tonight Show Highlights

I know, I know, I just reviewed the Tonight Show with Jay Leno a week ago, but Craig Ferguson was a guest on last night’s show, and I don’t think that opportunity should be missed. So, here were my favorite monologue jokes:

There’s now a report that there are a growing number of Americans worth one million dollars. The bad news: last year they were worth five million dollars.

We’re getting closer and closer to the country going into default. We could be out of money by August 2nd. How many people are surprised by this? How many people are surprised we have enough money to make it to August 2nd?

The economy is bad. It’s bad. I drove by Jack in the Box this morning, Jack was sleeping in the box. That’s how bad. I saw a guy rob a bank, then turn himself in just to get the reward money. That’s how bad it is. You know the little guy in the polo shirt riding a horse? He’s riding a donkey now. That’s how bad. Guys are going to strip clubs now and having to give lap dances to each other. That’s how bad the economy is.

Remember that story about the woman in Texas who gave birth to the 16-pound baby boy? Turns out it’s a hoax. Wasn’t a baby at all; guy from Mexico trying to sneak into the country.

A new study out this week found that a certain STD to be more prevalent among women over 40. I believe it’s called “cougarrea.”

Well here is every guy’s nightmare. What a frightening story this is. Right here in Garden Grove, California a woman named Catherine Becker has been arrested after she cut off her husband’s penis. And, of course, now the guy is just nuts. In fact, do you know what he said to her right before she cut off his penis? Obviously, the wrong thing.

The desk segment was Photo Booth. Once again, I thought it was going to suck, but instead it was pretty funny, and it therefore worth watching:

Craig Ferguson was the first couch guest. He is the host of his own late-night talk show, the Late Late Show, and is also in the new Winnie the Pooh film. The interview was very entertaining. Craig was hilarious, as usual, and actually seemed to be enjoying himself. To be honest, I was surprised at how well he and Jay got along. Here’s the first half of the interview:

Rose Byrne was the second couch guest. She is on the show Damages and has been in numerous movies lately. The interview was great. Rose was hilarious and she more than held her own in-between Jay and Craig. Here’s the interview:

David Cook was the musical guest. He gave a nice performance.

A reasonably flawless show. I give it:
