Late Night Highlights

Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers:

The ratings for last night’s Academy Awards hit a six-year low. So few people saw the Oscars that it’s been nominated for an Oscar.

Today the FBI staged mock attacks in U.S. malls to test how ready they are in the event of a terrorist attack. A terrorist attack? They’re not even ready for customers.

Scientists have developed a new skin patch which could cure or reduce peanut allergies. Which means that now, instead of sitting at the peanut-allergy table, kids can sit at the skin-patch table.

The comedy segment bits were “Fred Talks,” “Seth’s Story,” “A Couple Things” and “Venn Diagrams.” I recommend these two:

Mary J. Blige was the first couch guest. She is a singer and record producer, and will be in an upcoming episode of the show Empire. The interview was good. Mary was kind, had a great sense of humor and shared many interesting tidbits. I like when late-night talk shows have singers on the couch instead of always on the stage. Mary looked unsure when she first sat down, but Seth was very funny, so after he made her laugh the first time she relaxed and enjoyed herself. Here’s the second half of the interview:

Stephen Amell was the second couch guest. He stars on the television show Arrow. The interview was also good. Stephen was genuine, soft-spoken and told some amusing stories. I’m a reluctant fan of Arrow, but a willing fan of Stephen. I think he’s a talented actor and a cool guy. Here’s the interview:

MisterWives was the musical guest. They were ok.

Satisfying show. I give it:

– Woody
