Tonight Show Highlights
Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon:
The midterm elections are over and the Republicans are now in charge of Congress. Yesterday, House Republicans picked an all-male group of committee chairs for next year’s session. They’ve actually come up with a pretty good name for that all-male group: No Direction.
Chef Gordon Ramsey believes that his restaurant opening in London was sabotaged this weekend, after a competitor, he thinks, booked up the room with fake online reservations, so there was no one there. Officials have narrowed it down to everyone who has ever worked for Gordon Ramsey.
The Vatican is raffling off some of the Pope’s belongings for charity, including a tandem bicycle. The Pope said he’s giving away the tandem because Jesus never peddles on the uphills.
The comedy segment bit was “Obama Expressions.” It was decent, but I think viewing the comedy in the upcoming clips with Jon Stewart and Jim Giaffigan would be a much better use of your time.
Jon Stewart was the first couch guest. He hosts The Daily Show, and directed the new film Rosewater. The interview was great. Jon was charismatic, funny and shared some interesting stories. The guy wields humor, intelligence and sincerity so effortlessly; it’s a treat to see him do it. Here’s the interview:
Padma Lakshmi was the second couch guest. She hosts the show Top Chef. The interview was good. Padma was personable, energetic and told an amusing story. She’s a joy to watch, and I wish the segment had been much longer. Here’s my favorite clip:
Jim Gaffigan was the stand-up guest. He was terrific:
Entertaining show. I give it:
