Late Night Highlights
You know how it is; sometimes you just gotta review two episodes of Late Night with Seth Meyers in the same week. The fact that Tina Fey was a guest did not influence my decision at all. Not one bit.
Here were my favorite monologue jokes:
Last night Magic Johnson told Anderson Cooper that he’s still waiting for an apology from Clippers owner Donald Sterling. Sterling responded saying, “I’m very sorry you’re black.”
Scientists in Australia have unearthed the world’s oldest and best preserved sperm, which is seventeen million years old. Scientists found the sample on a bedspread at Motel 6.
A Chicago priest is offering a five thousand dollar reward to help stop gun violence. Meanwhile, people with guns just found out about a priest with five thousand dollars.
The comedy segment bits were “Fred Talks,” “Seth’s Story” and “Celebrity Spelling Bee.” When Seth introduced Celebrity Spelling Bee I cringed in anticipation of wasting minutes of my life watching something terrible. By the end it was one of the funniest sketches I’d seen on a late-night talk show in a while:
Tiny Fey was the first couch guest. She’s currently…well, I’m not sure, but I think she’s still creating ideas for new television shows. The interview was terrific. Tina was hilarious, energetic and shared some great stories. There’s no point in wasting your time making you read more words about the interview, just go watch it:
Matthew Rhys was the second couch guest. He stars on the show The Americans. The interview was good. Matthew was friendly, amusing and told some interesting stories. I love The Americans, and I think Matthew is a very talented actor, so I was glad to hear he was going to be on the show. He didn’t disappoint in the slightest.
The Wild Feathers was the musical guest. They did a really nice job:
An almost flawless show. I give it:
