Tonight Show Highlights
Tonight, after twenty-two years, Jay Leno’s career as host of The Tonight Show comes to an end. This is my last review of his tenure.
Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s episode:
[After a full minute of the audience’s standing ovation] Where were you people when I was negotiating my contract? Where were you then?
Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks. Today they had their big victory parade. Did you see what the city did to make the parade move along a little faster? They put the Denver Bronco’s defense right in front of them.
Brigham Young University in Idaho has released a video declaring a war on masturbation. They want their students to stop masturbating. The one skill you can actually use after college, and they want to take that away.
The comedy segment bit was “Stuff I Found Cleaning Up My Office”. It was bad. Let’s never speak of it again.
Sandra Bullock was the first couch guest. She is up for an Oscar for her role in the film Gravity. The interview was good. Sandra was kind, open and easygoing. Jay teased her quite a bit. I have to admit that I was a little uncomfortable with it at first, but after a while I enjoyed watching this rarely seen side of him. I wish he had been doing this a lot more over the past two decades. Here’s the interview:
Blake Shelton was the second couch guest. He is a judge on The Voice. The interview was terrific. Blake was charismatic, honest and funny. Jay teased him as much as he had Sandra, and it was hilarious. Blake was very good-natured about it, and even poked fun at himself a few times. Here’s the interview:
Vintage Trouble was the musical guest. They gave a great performance:
Entertaining show. I give it:
