Tonight Show Highlights
Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
William and Kate are the proud parents of an eight pound, six ounce baby boy. Experts say there’s a good chance this kid could be toilet trained before Justin Bieber.
In a recent interview in GQ Magazine Vice-President Joe Biden said he can die a happy man never having been President of the United States. You know something? So can we.
A mystery fan has been leaking wrestling match outcomes before the matches even happen. But I don’t think that will affect attendance. I mean, Cleveland Browns fans know how the games are going to end, and they still show up.
British cyclist Chris Froome won the hundredth Tour de France on Sunday. He says he plans to enjoy every moment of the championship before the drug test results come back.
The comedy segment was Headlines. There were enough decent ones in the second half to recommend:
Gillian Anderson was the first couch guest. She stars on the show The Fall. The interview was fine. Gillian was pleasant, but looked very tired. She was at the San Diego Comc Con over the weekend, so that might be why. Gillian spent the first half of the segment dryly telling one very long story that would have been more amusing had she presented it better, so we’re going to skip that. The second half of the interview was a little bit more enjoyable:
Jim Rash and Nat Faxon were the second couch guests. They wrote and directed the upcoming film The Way Way Back. The interview was good. Jim and Nat were funny and told some entertaining stories. My one complaint is that they kept interrupting each other. I know they were excited to be on the show, but I wish they had calmed down a bit and not tried so hard. Here’s the first half of the interview:
Kenny Chesney was the musical guest. I never thought I’d write a review in which a country music guest gave the best performance of all the guest on a late-night talk show, but he did.
A decent enough show. I give it:
