Late Show Highlights
I’m sorry to report that there wasn’t a single good monologue joke on last night’s Late Show with David Letterman. I watched the segment twice and tried my hardest to find at least one joke worthy of typing up, but it didn’t exist.
The desk segment was Top Ten Rejected Lionel Richie Song Lyrics. It was presented by the singer himself:
Tom Brokaw was the first couch guest. He’s a journalist, author and currently serves as a Special Correspondent for NBC News. The interview was fine, but disappointing overall. Dave and Tom spent the majority of their time together discussing how England made it through the German bombings during World War Two. It was definitely fascinating and informative, but I would have preferred to hear Tom’s opinions on some of the major issues occurring in America and the world today. Brokaw is incredibly knowledgeable about current events, and it’s annoying that he didn’t have an opportunity to share his thoughts on something like the presidential race. They spent the rest of the interview discussing dogs and rattlesnakes. What a waste.
Dana Vollmer was the second couch guest. She won three gold medals in Women’s Swimming during the 2012 Olympics. The interview was very good. Dana discussed the physical issues she had to deal with between the 2004 and 2012 Olympics. It was very interesting stuff. Here’s the entire interview:
Beth Orton was the musical guest. She was ok.
Unfortunately this was a less than decent show. I give it:
