Late Night Highlights
Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon:
New York City spent the entire weekend preparing for Hurricane Irene. I don’t want to say I over-prepared, but tonight everyone in the audience is going home with a box of D batteries.
The storm was huge news. In fact, the Weather Channel reported something they hadn’t seen in years: viewers.
Last night at the VMAs Beyonce revealed that she and Jay-Z are expecting a baby. That kid is going to have everything, except a last name.
The desk segments were Freestylin’ with The Roots and Do Not Read List. The first one was pretty good. If they put a clip of it up I’ll post it here.
Robert Duvall was the first couch guest. He’s is in the new film Seven Days in Utopia. The interview was fine, but I felt it could have been better. There’s no question that Robert is an interesting guy who has done some great acting in some great movies, but those topics have been covered a million times. I want to know what Robert is doing these days, on and off the big screen, not how cool it was to be in The Godfather. Fallon just seemed so stuck on gushing about Duvall’s past that it made the segment less interesting for me.
Emmanuelle Chriqui was the second couch guest. She is on the show Entourage. The interview was also fine. Emmanuelle’s energy was refreshing, and the conversation with Fallon was more in line with what I had wanted between him and Duvall.
The Cars was the musical guest. They were fine.
Good show. I give it:
