Late Night Highlights

Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Hugh Hefner’s ex-girlfriend Kendra Wilkinson is writing a memoir. That’s not the joke. It’s about her rise to fame. The memoir is delayed six months because her spell check kept overheating.

China now has more internet users than any other country in the world – 338 million. Most popular website in China: two girls one wok.

Yeah, it was slim pickings on the monologue front, but his Comic-Con video was absolutely brilliant. If you watch nothing else today, I totally recommend you watch this.

This week’s 7th Floor West was a recap episode of the first nine episodes. Here’s your chance to catch up before the two-part season finale starts next week.

Holly Hunter was the first couch guest. I will also be a fan of Holly for her great performance in Raising Arizona, which is one of my ten favorite movies of all time. The Roots played the yodeling theme from the film while she walked from the curtain to her seat. It was very funny. Holly talked about her friendship with the Coen Brothers and her Emmy-nominated show Saving Grace. The interview flew by, and Holly was great.

Mark Seliger was the second couch guest. Mark is a photographer who has taken some extraordinary magazine cover photos for Rolling Stone, GQ and Vanity Fair. He has a new book out. It’s a collection of musicians that he has photographed during his years with RS. He told some neat stories of working with Paul Simon, P Diddy and Nirvana. He then did a photo shoot with the audience:

Spinal Tap was the musical guest. They played “Back from the Dead” which is their first song off of their new album of the same name. It was a funny, and slightly silly, performance.

Overall, I give the show B+.
