Conan Highlights
Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Conan:
Today gay marriage became legal in Oregon. And even more amazing, in Portland it’s mandatory.
In New Hampshire, a police commissioner who called Obama a racial slur has resigned. He also publicly apologized to New Hampshire’s entire black community: a guy named Steve.
At a red-carpet event in Cannes a journalist from Ukraine crawled underneath actress America Ferrera’s dress. Today he apologized, saying he was just trying to sneak into America.
The comedy segment bits were “Andy Richter Reports” and “I Got This.” Both were entertaining enough to recommend watching. If you only have time for one, however, it’s always safe money to go with the sweet, sweet sound of Andy’s voice:
Eric Stonestreet was the first couch guest. He is one of the stars on the show Modern Family. The interview was fine. Eric was friendly, open and told some amusing stories. I dunno, there was nothing particularly bad about the interview, but there wasn’t much that I found exciting or engaging either. Eric’s a cool guy and talented actor, so it could just be me. Here was my favorite part of the interview:
Rick Reilly was the second couch guest. He is a sports writer for ESPN and author. The interview was great. Rick was nice, funny and told some interesting stories. I liked that Conan and Rick covered a wide variety of people and issues related to sports, and that Rick never felt the need to hold back his opinions on anything. Here’s the interview:
The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger was the musical guest. They were decent.
Pretty good show. I give it:
