Late Night Highlights
Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon:
It was just announced that Alex Rodriguez has been suspended from baseball for 211 games, but he’s going to appeal the decision and keep playing. Even Anthony Weiner was like, “Man some people just don’t know when to quit.”
The Boston Globe has just been sold for seventy million dollars, even though twenty years ago it went for 1.1 billion. Yeah, I couldn’t believe that story either when I saw it for free on the internet.
Over the weekend Washington D.C. hosted a meeting for people interested in traveling to Mars. It got a little weird when Biden showed up in Buzz Lightyear costume…and even weirder when he had no idea they were meeting about going to Mars.
The comedy segment was In Reply To. It was decently humorous, but I don’t think it’s worth spending your time watching.
Seth Myers was the first couch guest. He’s the head writer at SNL, future host of Late Night and creator of the new show The Awesomes. The interview was great. Seth was energetic, charismatic and funny. It was wonderful to hear them talk about doing their late-night shows in the same building. Here’s the interview:
After the break they played at game of Egg Russian Roulette. It was so terrific I watched it twice:
Lily Collins was the second couch guest. She is in the upcoming movie The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones. The interview was mediocre. Lily was delightful, but I didn’t get much enjoyment out of their conversation. That’s more Jimmy’s fault for choosing the topics, however. Plus, the interview went so long that they went to commercial in the middle of a sentence. C’mon, Late Night can do better than that by now.
2 Chainz was the musical guest. His performance was ok.
Good show. I give it:
