The 2009 Madoff Pinot Noir Is Actually Quite Tasty

Today is Veterans Day. Thank you to all the men and women who have honorably served our great country.

Addanac City published its 400th strip today. Congratulations on such an impressive accomplishment George! Keep up the great work.

Here’s the second part of my interview with the seemingly unstoppable Mr. Ford.

WAH: What is the main goal you’d like to achieve for yourself with your webcomic?

GF: I read a few articles by Aaron McGruder, the creator of Boondocks, about the struggles he experienced trying to speak his mind and “find his funny” with a syndicate/conglomerate breathing down his neck. He was “forced” to create while being guided by someone else’s parameters. McGruder also spoke of how trying to craft a seven-day-a-week comic was essentially and literally killing him. He suffered extreme stress-related stomach issues while meeting his deadlines.

I wanted to see if I have what it takes to be a professional cartoonist so I opted to post my comics seven days a week. I wanted to see whether I could do it or if it would drive me out of my mind. I suppose it’s kinda like that movie “Super-Size Me”. I think the majority of my audience wants to see when/if I fall flat on my face from the pressure. All I can say is keep waiting. Hahaha!  My main goal for the strip is to see how widespread this thing can get. I would love to see bedspreads, tv shows, and the like for Hank and the gang. I believe every cartoonist would like to see that for their creation. I just want the world to love reading/experiencing Addanac City in some fashion.

WAH: What is the main goal you’d like to achieve for your fans with your webcomic?

GF: I want my fans to enjoy the comic and look forward to returning to see what else will transpire within those colorful panels. I want them to know the character’s personalities and care about what happens. Once a reader has a basic idea about how a certain character will behave, they form a bond with them, and they feel they know what to expect. I like to give the audience that and throw them a curve every now and then. A lot of folks know not to put anything pass Hank and boy, he sure doesn’t disappoint them.
