The Colbert Report ends on December 18th. The Late Show with David Letterman ends on May 20th. That gives Colbert five months to build his team and construct his vision of the new Late Show. With that much time you’d think he’d be ready to premiere on Monday, May 25th. Even if he is, we’re going to have to wait a lot longer. According to Bill Carter, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won’t start until September. From his NY Times article:

But using substitute hosts for “Late Show” would be more complicated, because Mr. Colbert will be moving into the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York after Mr. Letterman exits. The set will be torn down, and Mr. Colbert’s staff will take over the offices vacated by Mr. Letterman’s. That process will take weeks.

Thanks for hanging out with us for another week. Have a great weekend.
