There’s a website I like to visit from time to time called Charity Buzz. They consistently have tickets to late-night shows that you can bid on to purchase. Yeah, it’s kinda silly to shell out hundreds of dollars on tickets that are given away for free. On the other hand these tickets are typically good for a year and allow you to pick the show you want to go to.
My point of bringing the website up is because Jimmy Kimmel Live! is auctioning off the desk used during the week of shows in New York. From the website:
On Friday night “Jimmy Kimmel Live” concluded its week-long run of shows from Brooklyn’s Harvey Theater at BAM- Brooklyn Academy of Music. In an effort to support the thousands of people still suffering from the effects of Hurricane Sandy, “JKL” and ABC are auctioning off Kimmel’s custom-made, Brooklyn-themed desk signed by late night talk show hosts David Letterman, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Jimmy Kimmel.
Bidding started at $20,000, and benefits the Red Cross.
I’d love to own the desk, but I don’t have $20,000. I’m thinking of maybe starting a Kickstarter campaign to raise the money. Pledge levels would include, in order of value, a copy of our book, a sketch from me, a sketch from Paul, a picture of me happily sitting at the desk, a picture of me happily lying naked on the desk, a picture of me and Paul happily lying naked on the desk together, etc. The premium pledge level would include all previous levels and also flying out to Columbus to touch the desk and eat three scoops of ice cream at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream.
Could work. I’m still considering it.
