My wife and I prepared for the Academy Awards by watching The Expendables. It wasn’t the smartest thing we’ve ever done.
I’ve seen a lot of comments this morning about how boring and/or bad the Oscars telecast was last night. I thought the show was reasonably decent overall. Sure, there were some bits that didn’t work, but for the most part I thought it went pretty well. I mean, c’mon, it’s a huge production that they only have one chance to get right, let’s cut those people some slack. Yesh.

I thought the Oscars were pretty exciting. Especially around 8:30, when thunderstorms screwed up the feed from the local TV station, so the Oscars were a black screen for 5 minutes before becoming another show that should have been on a different channel. And then went on for about 30 minutes. Then it was the stupid Oscars again.
The Expendables was awesome in its “I’m exactly what I need to be and nothing more”-ness.
“My wife and I prepared for the Academy Awards by watching The Expendables. It wasn’t the smartest thing we’ve ever done.”
First, the Oscar’s was last night? Second, no that wasn’t the smartest thing you could have done. The smartest thing would have been to watch the expendables instead of the Oscar’s.
“What did he say?”
“He said we’re dead, with an accent!”
Also I think the second panel of the comic is how Ben and Lisa actually met. Only Ben was the one working at the library. And Lisa really just wanted to see the library’s Special Collections.
We did not meet this way. I never went to grad school.
Details. Grad School – High School who cares.
“…Cut those people some slack.” Well said. I think it’s a sad commentary where even the Oscars are “just not good enough.” No one has to pay admission to see it, and you get an excuse to keep up with fashion trends w/o your significant other starting to worry a little. Not that I…was paying attention…to that sort of thing…
My wife and I prepared for the Oscars by not watching many of the featured films up for awards at all last year. Sort of anticlimactic, but I wasn’t complaining.
