Late Night Highlights

Here were my favorite monologue jokes from last night’s Late Night with Seth Meyers:

There’s still some controversy in the NFL. This weekend a Native American group gathered outside of the Houston/Washington game to protest the Redskins’ nickname. And a group of Cowboys’ wide receivers gathered outside the Dallas/San Francisco game because that’s where most of Tony Romo’s passes were landing.

Price William and Kate Middleton announced today that they are expecting their second child. The couple says they don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl, because the second-born doesn’t matter.

A new study shows that men with lower-levels of facial attractiveness have higher-quality semen. Plus, it’s usually hand-crafted.

A group of California children gathered on Friday to protest the removal of an alligator that had lived in their neighborhood since 1987. “I really wish you’d all stop calling me an ‘alligator’,” said old man Henderson.

The comedy segment bits were “Seth’s Story” and “Famous Quote First Drafts.” “Seth’s Story” was terrific:

Luke Wilson was the first couch guest. He’s in the new film The Skeleton Twins. The interview was fine. Luke was kind, sedate and shared some interesting tidbits. Not knowing too much about Luke other than some of his films, I was a little surprised at how low-key he seems to be. I’d like to think he enjoyed appearing on Late Night, but it was a little hard to tell based on his somewhat muted personality. Here is the first two-thirds of the interview; the last third isn’t worth your time.

Max Greenfield was the second couch guest. He’s on the show New Girl. The interview was good. Max was friendly, chipper and told some funny stories. The downside to this segment, in my opinion, was that all Max did was tell stories. They were amusing, just not very deep. I wish he could have traded one of them in for a slightly more in-depth discussion with Seth about something currently going on in his life. Still, the stories were stimulating enough to recommend watching the interview:

Banks was the musical guest. She gave a decent performance.

Entertaining show. I give it:
