Jimmy Kimmel Live! Highlights

Here were my favorite monologue jokes and bits from last night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!:

Today is not your average Monday; it’s a special day today. You remember the smile on little Karen’s face when Frosty the Snowman came back to life? Well, that’s kinda how I felt today when the honorable mayor Rob Ford returned to the city of Toronto. Oh how I’ve missed the sweaty pink man.

In other world news we’re down to the final four on The Bachelorette. Next week Andi goes on the hometown dates. That is my favorite part of the show. It takes a lot of temerity to look into a parent’s eyes and say, “I’m here because I’d like to marry your son, or one of the other three people I’m currently dating.”

Did any of you here in our studio audience see the new Transformers movie over the weekend? It had a huge opening weekend. It made about a hundred million dollars in the US, and more than three hundred million dollars world-wide, despite getting a lot of bad reviews. You know, critics have a love-hate relationship with The Transformers franchise. On the one hand they don’t love it, and on the other they hate it.

But regardless of what the critics think, the movie is a huge success. Michael Bay has already announced plans for the next Transformers. It’s going to be in 1D. And I will tell you, you have not seen explosions until you’ve seen them in a straight line.

The comedy segment bit was “Souvenir Store Shopping Spree.” I don’t exactly know why, but I liked it:

Melissa McCarthy was the first couch guest. She is in the new film Tammy. The interview was great. Melissa was delightful. She was friendly, sharp, outgoing, happy and told some amusing stories. The entire interview is worth watching, but it’s only available as part of the entire show online. If you don’t have time to wade through all that, check out these hilarious highlights:

Marc Maron was the second couch guest. He is the host of the podcast WTF. The interview was good. Marc spent his entire time telling stories. Fortunately, he’s an expert storyteller and they were pretty funny. Here’s most of the interview. The only part they left out was a story about Marc’s acting in the second Mighty Ducks movie.

Royksopp and Robyn was the musical guest. They were mediocre.

Entertaining show. I give it:

– Woody
