Jimmy Kimmel Live! Highlights

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is in Brooklyn, New York this week. It’s fair to say that of the fifty-two they had to choose from, they picked the absolutely worst week to visit the East Coast. The show was canceled Monday night, but they’re up and running fine now.

Here were my favorite monologue jokes:

I’d like you to be honest with me. How many of you are here for the electricity?

Maybe the best part about being in Brooklyn during a hurricane is that if you go outside and open your mouth there’s a pretty good chance a corn beef sandwich will blow into it.

Some of the damage I’ve been seeing on the local news is unbelievable, especially in New Jersey. Some parts of New Jersey have been so completely rearranged that Apple Maps is now actually right.

Unfortunately the Brooklyn Nets had to cancel their big home opener against the Knicks tomorrow night at the new Barclays Center which is right down the block. The good news is that if the Nets can keep this up for about eight more months they could have their first undefeated season.

David Letterman was the only couch guest. He is the host of the Late Show with David Letterman. The interview was terrific. David was very funny, generously kind and characteristically shy. He exceled at the two things he does best: storytelling and self-deprecating humor. Considering that David is a private person who enjoys interviewing people, but hardly ever agrees to be interviewed, it was great seeing him be Kimmel’s guest. The only negative thing about the segment was Jimmy’s overbearing exuberance. The idolization is understandable, but I think he went a little overboard and it made Letterman a tad uncomfortable. Here’s the interview:

Vampire Weekend was the musical guest. They were fine.

An excellent show that deserves bonus points for doing the show in New York two days after a massive hurricane. I give it:
