Late Show Highlights

Anyone see the Late Show with David Letterman last night? There were a few good monologue jokes:

Yesterday they announced the Tony Awards. The Jets and the Sharks from West Side Story were nominated in the category Best Gay Street Gang.

We were nominated here. The Ed Sullivan Theater, The Late Show: Biggest Waste of a Broadway Theater.

Obama and Biden went there yesterday for lunch. This place outside of Washington called Ray’s Hell Burger. A kinda embarrassing moment. They go into the place and everyone goes, “Oh my God, it’s the President and the Vice President.” And they’re stunned. And then the guy behind the counter taking orders – it was Rob Blagojevich.

I finally enjoyed a visit from Andy Kindler. His interview with climate change experts was pretty decent.

Bruce Willis was Dave’s first guest. I’ve always been a big fan of Bruce because he’s willing to do physical comedy a laugh. He came out wearing a huge, seriously, huge, rubber band ball helmet, stating that it was to protect him from concussions while filming and being at home. He didn’t feel a thing when Dave hit him in the back of the head with an empty liquor bottle. He also brought a Do-It-Yourself Concussion-Buster Kit, a huge bag of rubber bands, which he’s selling on QVC for $49.95. Not too many other actors will do put themselves out there and do silly stuff like that.

Dave and Bruce have a great chemistry. The rest of the interview was really fun to watch. I wish there was a clip of the stripper Bruce got for Dave as a present for getting married. You’ll just have to watch the whole interview.

But if you don’t have time, at least watch Bruce in his unbilled cameo in the movie Obsessed.

Ben Harper and the Relentless 7 was the musical guest. I don’t know why, but I just like anyone named “Ben”.

And last, but not least, hearty congratulations to Jimmy Fallon for winning a Webby award.

And, since I screwed it up last time, let’s try this again, with a thick German accent:

Voodkrest OWT!

– Woody
